Client: World Food Programme (WFP), New Delhi, India

Project:
Integrated System for Monitoring

The World Food Programme supports a variety of activities in India, including the 'Food for Work' Programme. To monitor its activities, WFP commissioned PARAMARSH to develop a series of monitoring packages that include the following:

Commodity Tracking System (CTS) :
This system tracks the movement and distribution of food starting from the port of arrival, to distribution points at the lowest level. The package also has a built in accounting function.

Village Reporting System :
This system monitors and reports all activities carried out by WFP at village levels. The reporting is in the form of dynamically generated statistical queries.

Food Security Card System :
This system monitors the distribution of food under the Food for Work scheme.

NGO Database :
This system maintains information about all the NGOs and their activities involved in the projects sponsored by WFP.

The tools/platforms used for the Field Accounting system are as follows:

  • Visual Basic Front-end on Win 95/98/NT platforms. Microsoft Access as database on NT server. Crystal Reports is used for report generation. The software also has a stand-alone version.
