Project: Design and Development of Database and Web Based Client Testing Tools for an Integrated System for Improving Learning Abilities

The product is a web-based tool for assessing and improving the learning disabilities of different individuals. The learning abilities are assessed through various tests (known as TOMI), and based on test results, different exercises (known as SmartExercises) are prescribed for improvement in deficient areas.

The core component of the application is a database system that allows dynamic creation and configuration of tests based on items prepared by Psycometricians, maintenance of user information and performance history and maintenance of analytical and research data. The application also has a number of tools developed to work in web mode on a variety of platforms including Mac to allow individuals to take assessment tests and improvement exercises. The system records and monitors the performance on-line and produces a variety of performance reports on the fly. The tools make extensive use of graphics, animations and audio effects to create an entertaining work environment.

The different functional Modules for the software and their tools/platforms used are as follows:

  • Database Management System -- Visual Basic, Oracle8i, Visual C++ on Win-95/98/NT, ActiveReports as report generatore
